Former military man in Chamonix’s High mountain military school (EMHM), working as a trainer and then as a responsible for army’s mountain internship, I left the army in 1989 to pursue a childhood’s dream and become a high mountain rescuer.

After graduating from national ski instructor diploma and mountain guide, I have been for 20 years a mountain rescuer in the Chamonix’s PGHM. This Gendarmerie’s unit performs 1000 to 1200 rescue in mountain per year. A rescue can go to a simple sprain on an hiking trail to an extreme rescue in one of Mont Blanc’s mountain faces.

This experience leaved me forever marked.

Enjoying DIY, i invested myself for 4 years with one of my colleagues in order to build a new mountain rescue sleigh (Franco Garda sleigh). We worked on this project with our Italian rescue colleagues from Val d’Aosta. A project directed by TSL, the world’s biggest plastic snowshoe manufacturer (Projet Européen Interreg). Nowadays, this sleigh is commercialized worldwide.

Also, I am at the origin of initiatives that are acknowledge worldwide (CISA IKAR, International Commission for Alpine Rescue) in the safety department. Indeed, I created a repertoire of mountain rescue incidents in order to improve mountain rescue services and their safety.

I have a diploma in Ski Patrol Rescue First Degree.

I speak english.

Since 2010, I work as an independent high mountain guide and as a ski instructor.

From now on, it is important to me to pass on this expertise that I acquired for more than 20 years in rescue.

Former mountain rescuer and now current mountain guide, I can now share with you my own experience. I will share with you what I know but also my doubts and uncertainties in mountains.

I can advise you on risk management, the organisation of a rescue in avalanche, a rescue in a crevasse, how to send out an SOS, relationships with the mountain rescuer…
